DVD Rumours and Stuff

by Mr. Mike <mjq@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Dec 17, 2006 at 11:18 PM

These are things I have heard about the upcoming DVD release. Some of them
fall
into the rumour bin...

Paramount was seriously thinking of including the release of Cocoon
which breaks the pilot movie into two one-hour parts for syndication
purposes. Among other things, this would eliminate the unique opening
credits for the pilot movie, which are quite different than that for
the show itself. George Litto, who has some involvement with the
ongoing Hawaii Five-O movie project, had to get involved to persuade
Paramount this was not a good idea.

Although James MacArthur and Mrs. Rose Freeman, wife of Five-O
creator Leonard, and possibly others were approached to be
interviewed and/or do commentary for the set, either these interviews
never took place or, if they did, they will not be used -- at least
for this first DVD release.

I am told that there will be a copy of the documentary "Emme
Tomimbang's Island Moments: Memories of Hawaii Five-O," a 45-minute-
long show (one hour with commercials removed) that aired in October
1996 on KHNL, NBC affiliate in Honolulu, at the time of the first
Hawaii Five-O reunion. James MacArthur is the co-host with Honolulu
TV personality Emme Tomimbang as they reminisce with various cast and
crew about the show. Persons featured include Rose Freeman, Marie
Lord (Jack Lord's wife), Zulu (Gilbert Kauhi), Glenn Cannon, Kam
Fong, Harry Endo, and others. This show is very well-made, but
several of the people who appear have since passed away. Hopefully
there will be something prior to the show which points this out.

Based on what someone at tvshowsondvd.com reportedly said, the
episodes in the DVD set should be the original uncut versions. There
are 24 episodes, with a total time of 21 hours, 10 mins, and 40
seconds. This works out to nearly 53 minutes each.

There is no word yet as to whether the episodes will be remastered
and/or cleaned up, or whether the sound will be the original mono or
remixed into multi-channel stereo.
