The wave-bumpers are the act break markers.
you know when the act is over when on a dramatic moment the music
rises and we see the tidal wave with "Hawaii Five-O" in the corner.
i don't know if i explained that well.
Every time the show cut to a commercial back during its first run, we
would usually see three of the wave bumpers (four acts in an episode)
in each episode.
In syndication, local tv stations would cut one or more of the bumpers
to allow for more commercial time.
But the edits were jarring.
Glad to see they are back
