As far as I can determine, the "masters" for these Columbia House
tapes were not the same ones used by Paramount to make the Family
Channel versions (later shown on WGN). They came from some secret
vault at CBS (or so I think).

Family Channel paid a portion of the cost to remaster the shows, and
Paramount redid the entire show (all 51 or whatever minutes of them).
But then Paramount also prepared seriously chopped up versions which
the Family Channel could broadcast -- these were usually about 46
minutes long with tons of stuff missing and the shows being sped up.

For example, the Columbia House version of Nine Dragons (my favorite
episode) is VERY shitty, full of scratches and other damage. This
damage does NOT occur on the Family Channel (remastered) version.
