Uh... you are comparing apples to oranges here, at least a little bit,
IMHO. 7th Heaven jumped the shark when Jessica Biel posed for GEAR
Magazine and afterwords, left the show. It was all over for 7H from
that point on. I honestly believe that the show never, ever recovered
from that debacle, because shortly after that, they starting adding
every Tom, Trixie, and Harry they could think of to compensate for
losing Biel, which actually proved to be their biggest mistake,
IMNSHO. The show became too bloated and spread itself too thin with
storylines so that they could get all of their new cast members
onscreen time.
Here, with GG, the show isn't shutting down because one of the main
characters suddenly up and left, a la 7H. It's shutting down because
the network doesn't want to pay some of its cast what they are truly
worth (Yeah, I'm still pissed...). Nobody left early. I personally
believe nobody WANTED to leave the show. I just think everyone wanted
to be paid what they are worth and the network didn't feel like
negotiating in good faith.
BIG difference between the two situations, if you ask me.
