Writer/Producer, Lawrence (Larry) Hertzog, died Saturday of cancer at
Cedars Sinai in Los Angeles. He was 56.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm on Sunday, May 4, 2008 at Mt.
Sinai Hollywood.
Born in New York City, Hertzog attended NYU film school before moving
to Los Angeles in 1977.
He started his career on the tv series =93Kate Columbo=94 in 1979,
followed by =93Hart to Hart=94 in 1980. In 1984 he joined the Stephen J.
Cannell team where he wrote and produced several series, including
=93Hardcastle & McCormick=94 and =93Stingray=94. With Cannell, he
co-created=
the Dale Robertson series =93J.J. Starbuck=94 in 1987. After stints on
=93Walker Texas Ranger=94 and =93SeaQuest 2032=94, he created the
groundbreaking =93Nowhere Man=94 for the upstart weblet UPN. The series
starred Bruce Greenwood, about a man who=92s identity disappears over a
photograph. The series was a critical hit with the reviewers.
Larry went on to produce the hit NBC series =93Profiler=94 for two seasons
before joining USA=92s Cable hit =93Le Femme Nikita=94 as the showrunner
for=
it=92s last three seasons.
He also wrote for The Fox mega-hit =9324=94 before joining the staff of
the Vivica Fox series =931-800 Missing=94.
He ended his career as a producer and Head Writer on the Sci-Fi
Channel series, =93Painkiller Jane=94 in 2007.
Larry is survived by his wife Karen, mother Arlene Hertzog, brother
David and sister-in-law Roz, nephew Adam, niece Lauren (fianc=E9 James),
extended family and many friends and colleagues.
