First of all, I would like to kindly ask you to avoid spoilers for
later episodes and
for season 5.
I understand that this show already aired in its entirety, and that
being spoiler-
friendly may not be the rule.
However, I emphasize that, as I am a *first-time viewer* of the show,
please,
please refrain from discussing any other episodes later than this one;
please,
even avoid telling me if there will be better episodes, or whether
there is or not
reason to be concerned about spoilers .... Knowing that there are plot
twists
(or knowing that there are not) to be spoiled *is indeed* a spoiler.
With all that said --- hope you're not bored and hate me at this point
:-) --- I'd
like to ask what you all think:
Is it just me, or is this one (Mirage) the best episode so far in the
show???
I mean, sure, it wasn't a spectacular production with top-notch
artistic show-off.
But... I was truly speechless, and my jaw was bouncing and rolling on
the
floor after this episode. The passage where they make Jack relive the
past
is just spectacular. But perhaps what really hit me hard was
Marshall's nice
way to close what I found to be a spectacular twist (Jack
hallucinating): his
statement "even his allucinations are lucid!" ... What an
unbelievably brilliant
way to describe Jack; that statement says more about Jack than all the
previous
80 or 90 episodes thus far, don't you think?
Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised to have an opinion that completely
diverges
from the general population of Alias fans, as this is not the typical
kind of
thing that I enjoy (I go more for sci-fi and fantasy things than for
spy stuff).
I just happen to like Alias; I find it quite nicely done, and with
enough plot
twists and interesting ideas --- anyway.... Just preparing the terrain
in case
I receive a wave of replies pointing out how bad/poor taste I have to
find
this one the best episode thus far ;-)
Again, PLEASE restrict the discussion to episodes BEFORE this one
(that
is, if you think that the best episode of the series is one of the S5
episodes,
please do not discuss it --- please, do not even *mention* the fact
that you
think the best episode is some S5 episode....)
