"Slay Ride" by A Gentleman Of Leisure.
Giles carefully wrapped his Christmas present for Buffy. He was sure she
would appreciate the two hundred year old workmanship. He just wondered if
perhaps the wrapping paper might not be a trifle too gaudy.
*
Waiting at traffic lights in Sunnydale's deserted mainstreet that evening,
Giles was shocked when the car's passenger door was suddenly pulled open
and
someone jumped in. In his eagerness to get to 1630 Revello Drive for
Christmas dinner, he had apparently forgotten to lock it.
"What do you want? I haven't got any money".
"Don't want money. Hungry - want your blood!" said the uninvited
passenger,
his features transforming into what Buffy usually termed 'bumpy face'.
Giles
realised he might be in deep trouble.
Then, "What's that?" asked the vampire, noticing the small, neat parcel
perched on the dashboard.
"Present for a friend", Giles said.
"Gimme", said the vampire.
"Certainly", said Giles.
*
"I'm sorry, the parcel got slightly torn on the way here", he apologised a
short while later, handing over his gift.
"Oh, that's OK", said Buffy, tearing off the wrapping paper, and giving
him
a big hug. "I love it. It's really antique, isn't it? I wonder how many
vampires it's already staked!"
THE END.
