It was still her plan that they were executing, and she kept the overall 
control of the battle. It was on her signal that the students all 
revealed that they were armed, and she's the one who gave Xander the 
order that it was time to stop trying to hold the courtyard, and begin 
their withdrawal.  She was acting as the general, and like a good 
general she delegated the tactical control to her colonel Xander.
