Which is why that "necessarily" was in there.  An SLR will take a 
picture of a vampire just fine.  You just won't be able to see it 
through the viewfinder.

Most of the folding polaroid cameras used mirrors in their optical 
paths, but your bog standard instamatic didn't have any mirrors in it.
