Avatars can grant power; Scudder gave some to Lodz.
And Norman's power is the power of "no one pays close attention to the
cripple".

No; Sophie is the avataric wild card Knauf talked about, and she's the
offspring of an avatar. Lodz was given power by an avatar. Krohn has
powers of an avataric bloodline.

Hack is Scudder, not Lodz. Lodz is not avataric (or if he is, he's not
known to be closely blood related to our heroes).
