I guess it was pretty successful for a "parasitic" service. And I think 
the transition to digital TV isn't helping either. (not that it couldn't 
have found a home in between the MPEG bits)

FYI, unlike Closed Captioning in North America, the bit rate and number 
of scan lines used was such that the BBC teletext could not be recorded 
on consumer videotape. I doubt there's any particular archive of Ceefax 
data, making it a very ephemeral medium indeed.

For completeness, I should also mention NAPLPS, which was graphics-based 
rather than text-based, and mostly used in Canada for the Telidon 
videotex service, and the USA for the original Prodigy online service.
