This doesn't make sense to me either. Adult Swim was STARTED so they
could show anime without having to butcher it (as much). I mean, shows
like Bebop would have never have gotten on the air were it not for AS.
I think what's happened is that the AS folks feel they've "outgrown" anime
- especially after getting burned by some of their choices. As for
Inuyasha, it's popular but they hate it, which really annoys them and does
nothing to help the anti-anime sentiment that they keep spewing in their
bumps.

I'm sure there's been no shortage of suggestions on AS' message boards -
and you know how (rabid? chatty? biased?) anime fans can be which I also
have to think helped sour AS against anime. I'm also guessing it's a
matter of cost. Heck, if they can throw something like 'Saul of the
molemen' together for the price of a sack of Big Macs, imagine how hard
it would be for them to try and acquire a typical anime series?
Anyways, AS' lineup in general is pretty bad right now. The only show I'm
watching out of a whole weeks' worth of recording is Deathnote, and even
that show is going downhill. Fast. (I'll finish it, but I doubt I'll
watch reruns.)

Yay. Something new. I'll try it for a few weeks to see if I like it or
not.

Yeah, the AS crew seems to have an obsession with (male) *****, balls and
*****es. Um...

I don't think anything will happen until AS' ratings start coming in 2nd
to the infomercials for financial planning over on the other channels.
Seriously, AS has become one giant joke. The joke being they enjoy being
the network that HATES you - and people continue to watch because they
think it's just a joke. However as you've pointed out, it's clear that
it's no joke. AS really does hate its viewers. You can sort of see the
transition happening with Aqua Teen Hunger Force. At first they tried to
be funny, but now, it's just a bunch of random non-sequitors that
sometimes even lacks a central story. Then with stuff like 'Tom And The
Mayor' which has now morphed into, what is it? "The Tom & Eric Show"? Not
to mention their other live-action garbage.
To me, it seems the AS crew are stuck in the early-mid 90s, when it was
still considered "hip" and "cool" to be gross and crass on television.
This was when MTV was oddly a good station for edgy animation - Beavis &
Butthead, Aeon Flux, The Maxx, Clone High, Downtown, and then junk like
Jackass, and Tom Green came along.
If AS hates anime so much, why not delve into the rarely explored realms
of US/Canadian animation? Any of the above shows would do well. In
addition, why not grab movies like Rock & Rule or Wizards? Granted,
Wizards would have to have the *bleep* bleeped out of it, but visual-wise
it's nothing they haven't already shown. Throw it on a special run of AS
at 1am or something...
I just pray they DON'T decide to snag things like Striperella.
