Fans of classic Australian drama will be pleased to know that the
groundbreaking series 'Prisoner' will shortly be available in its
entirety on DVD for the first time.
The series, known in the UK as 'Prisoner: Cell Block H', ran for 692
episodes from 1979 to 1986, tackling many previously taboo subjects as
it told the story of the female inmates and officers of the Wentworth
Detention Centre. The series featured many familiar actors who would
later star in Neighbours, and even the prison building itself is the
studios where Neighbours is now recorded.
The DVDs are available as 40 volumes averaging 16 episodes per volume,
with the first volumes already available in Australian stores. From
the 29th September the complete collection will be available in a huge
174 disc box set with presentation case and commemorative book, and is
possibly the largest DVD boxset ever released!
