Trust me, I understand the personal gratification angle.
But if we impeach Cheney, if he's convicted or if he just resigns,
there'll be a new veep, and that will be a definite 'in' for one of the
Republicans.
As it stands, Bush can't run again and wouldn't win if he could, Cheney
is so completely unelectable he's not even considering running. So
what's left is a large field, with no particular strong front runner.
That might change if Bush names a new veep.
