You're not seeing this from the Republican point of view.  Karl Rove and 
Cheney really thought they could stack the deck so that Republicans would 
always be in power.  They failed miserably.  That's what they're taking 
away from this - failure.  Failure in their real, unstated goals.

The one thing I would like to see happen right now is for all the 
'replacement' US Attorneys to be removed, and all the new hires since the 
firings to be scrutinized for competence.  Taking over the Justice 
Department was Rove's biggest objective, and I'd really like to see it 
snatched away from him.
