Aha! Now I know the religious beliefs of the class* that Hubster
is teaching this summer. 2/3 are fundamentalists...
*It's _called_ "College Algebra," but the curriculum consists of
topics I learned in junior high and high school, and I was not
taking advanced classes, just the college prep. track.
Functions, graphs, simple complex arithmetic, logarithms and
exponents, scientific notation, factoring, quadratic formula,
completing the square... They (the 2/3 to which I referred)
don't know how to add fractions or subtract negative numbers -
but they think he's being mean when he takes off points for these
types of mistakes.
The next class in the sequence is trigonometry, and only after
that do they take "pre-calculus" - which contains what "college
algebra" did back in the dark ages when I was in college.
Oh, geez, DGMS.
