Hey, I probably am not the right one to answer, but here goes...
A new post about a subject that is not the topic of the group draws
alot of attention (and ire), particularly in a group that isn't busy.
Thread drift, as was seen in this particular case, was a natural
progression of thought processes (sp?), that began as a semi on topic
post. Semi on topic because it started about CSI:NY and this group is
for CSI only.
That and you got very defensive. To some people it's like waving a
red cape in front of a bull. There are those who like to correct
others and those who are possessive of a group (as you may see after
this), and there are those who don't give a fig, so long as the
discussion is relatively well though out.
Probably didn't answer your question very well, but that was my take
on it.
