We won't go into addiction vs dependence, but...
Having a prescription for Ambien, I can see where one would request an
Rx for something to wake one up. The 'hangover' effect doesn't go
away unless you are one of the fortunate few. I've been on it since
2005, and I still have the 'hangover' effect. Feeling very sluggish,
half asleep, walking in cotton.
So, it actually made better sense that he took Ambien then needed
something to overcome the sluggish feeling the next day, and became
'dependent' on *that* drug as well. He obviously wasn't much of an
"addict" or he'd have smacked the crap out of Nick for dumping his
pills (followed closely by digging through the trash to get them out).
