I think, often, that most network shows prefer to show the harm done
by perfectly reasonable prescriptions to those that need them (even
House), rather than showing a person with a real need for whichever
medication their physicians determine. Makes for more "must see TV",
I suppose.
Also on the other side of things... I know many doctors who will not
prescribe provigil, even to those who need it (chronic pain
patients). No idea why that is, as my own alertness is a minor thing,
I rarely drive anywhere, I do not work (I'm disabled), so being a bit
sluggish is no big deal to me.
