I don't mind a diversion from the formula. We've seen this before, with 
Hodges' game and outright bizarre cases. The problem with Thursday's 
episode, as with a lot of sit-coms these days, was the writers threw joke 
after joke at the wall in hopes that one would stick. The "CSI" writers
have 
written better comedy in previous episodes by using it sparingly. The
script 
for Thursday's show just didn't fit the characters.
