I vote for this last one.
What a tired rendition of the usual shop-worn Larry david gimmickry. It
was almost painful to endure, knowing some of the great shows he's put
on in the past. "Doctor, pharmacist....." etc, repeat, etc. Oh please,
larry, enough with the hilarity!
Last week had some funny bits but this one seemed truly forced from the
get-go. Just going through the motions it seems; has CYE jumped the
shark? Not every show can hit the gold standard, but this one seemed
especially unredeeming. The kamikaze bit started just OK but veered
disastrously into the lame botched suicide motif. Nealon's appearance
was wasted in it; the rest home aspect could have been played better
for more loopy effect, the Bingo plot device was sloppy. The gratuitous
porn interlude was a cheap and degrading ploy. The patented CYE endings
the last two weeks have just fallen flat.
I don't know, maybe I just had some bad sushi earlier tonight.
