The Final Days and Night's of Sarah Collins
Chapter four
The next time Sarah saw Miss Winters, Vickie was dressed more
appropriately, Sarah knew that they would be great friends right away.
Vickie was frightened and unsure of what she was doing, especially
when she would mistake a member of the Collins family of this time from
a member of the Collins in her own time, it was as though she is lost in
a world of familiar faces.
Vickie knew that she was in the past almost 200 years and that it must
have happened at the seance in the drawing at Collinwood in 1967! She
wasn't sure how long she would remain in the past but she was determined
to learn the reason why the Ghost of Sarah Collins appeared to her and
other's at Collinwood.
After her first lesson with Miss Winters Sarah went to welcome Josette
to Collinwood.
Sarah was very glad when Josette arrived, from the top of the stairs,
Sarah first saw Josette's maid Angelique, who was sent to inform the
family that their coach has broken down on the road, for an unknown
reason Sarah was just a little frightened of the pretty blond, and she
could almost tell that Barnabas as also.
Sitting on Josette's bed Sarah was fascinated watching as the servants
brought up all of Josette's steamer trunks and suit cases, they were
filled with beautiful dresses and gowns all the way from Paris France.
Sarah was also happy that Josette was so very kind to her. Allowing the
little girl to help put away some of Josette's precious treasures...
Sarah enjoyed listening to Josette's soft voice especially her pretty
accent.
When ever she could Sarah would keep out of sight and listen to
Barnabas and Josette plan their future together.
Other times Sarah would catch Angelique also watching Barnabas and
Josette, Sarah was sure she should tell Barnabas but was afraid he would
discover her transgressions and scold her, thus unknowingly Sarah kept
Angelique's secret.
One day Josette sent for Sarah, as she sat on Josette's bed waiting,
Angelique walked into the room. With a pretty smile Angelique tried to
make friends, Sarah began to feel uncomfortable because Angelique would
not ask Sarah questions about her or the rest of the family but only
about Barnabas... Sarah began to play a little game with Angelique and
not reply honestly... she did not understand that telling fibs to grown
ups was rude.
Later that evening as Barnabas tucked Sarah in bed, after Sarah told
him that Josette asked her to be the flower girl in the wedding, he
explained. " I'm very happy you will be a part of the wedding Sarah,
although you must not play secret games with Angelique, she did not
understand, and it worried her after you told her you thought I was
allergic to her." Sarah couldn't help but laugh, just a little. "I'm
sorry Barnabas, would you please read to me a while." Barnabas slowly
shakes his head. "I must go and see Josette, we have many plans to make
before the wedding.... you understand don't you." Sarah nods her head.
With a kiss good night and a wish for pleasant dreams Sarah is again
alone in the dark. Closing her eyes Sarah listens and from the darkness
hears a soft lullaby, she is soon fast asleep.
