The Final Days and Night's of Sarah Collins chapter Seven
Angelique is close by her room when Barnabas comes walking towards
than past her, as he enters Angelique's room, his expression is one of
worry and concern. He speaks to her with desperation in his voice.
"Angelique, I must search your room." Angelique is frightened at what
Barnabas might find if he does. "Excuse me, what do you mean search my
room, are you accusing me of stealing." Barnabas looks about the room,
he stops to stare at the bed, this makes Angelique very anxious for
Barnabas to leave, little did he know if he could see behind the pillow
he would have seen Sarah's little doll and the pin that was lodged into
it's shoulder.
Angelique moved closer to Barnabas. "What are you accusing me of
Barnabas." Barnabas looks at her. "Sarah is very ill." Angelique nods
her head. "Yes, I heard she had fallen ill, what did the doctor say."
Turning away from her. "The doctor can not help her, Sarah is in so much
pain, she can't eat, Mother's gives her something to sleep but it is
difficult for Sarah to rest, I'm looking for her little doll, that's the
only thing she asked me for, I must find her... Sarah some times plays
around here so she may have left it here, have you seen it." Angelique
goes around to stand before Barnabas, she is closer to him, looking into
Barnabas' soft brown eyes. "Sarah has never been in my room Barnabas,
she left nothing here." For a moment Barnabas can not help but gaze
into Angelique's brilliant blue eyes.... closing his eyes a single tear
falls.
Before Barnabas could leave, Angelique quickly says. "Tell me, what
are Sarah's symptoms, where does she hurt." Barnabas tells Angelique.
"I suffered from the same illness as a child, my Mother cured me, she
taught me how cure it also... if it is the same illness then I believe I
can make Sara well."
Barnabas looks at Angelique with a faint glow of hope. "Do you really
believe you can help Sarah, I would pay you anything, what ever you
asked for." Angelique smiles. "I only want one thing... a wedding
ring." Barnabas is dumbfounded! "A wedding ring! " Hastily Barnabas
agrees, unsure that what ever Angelique could make would help Sarah.
Angelique promises to make the remedy and take it to Sarah's room
later that day.
After brewing a simple tea, Angelique gives it to Barnabas saying that
Sarah needs but to sip slowly of it and by and by she will be well
again.
To her word slowly Sarah became well. unknown to them Angelique slowly
removed the pin that was placed in Sarah's doll.
It had been two weeks after Sarah was well that Angelique was able to
see Barnabas again. "I understand that Sarah is well, thanks to my
tea." Barnabas is preoccupied with business but glances to utter. "Oh
yes, Sarah is much better, thank you." Angelique wonders if Barnabas
had forgotten his promise when he turns to her. " Surely you did not
take what I said to you seriously... I would have made a deal with the
devil himself to make Sarah well, I am going to wed Josette." Turning
back to his business Barnabas dismisses Angelique.
Furious Angelique plans her revenge, but not with little Sarah.
Angelique steps into the room."you summoned me madam." Josette sits on
the settee in her room. "Yes Please help me with my hair Angelique, you
have a way of doing it just right." Angelique smiles. "Yes Madam, I
will assist you... depend on me."
