The Final Days and Night's of Sarah Collins Chapter 14
Sarah, remains unable to speak, she lay on her bed, inconsolable, her
tears fell on her pillow, indeed the whole house was uneasy... the
cloudy sunless days gave a solemn mood to everyone.
The Reverend Trask had arrived in Collinsport after being sent for by
Aunt Abigail and was waiting for permission to interview all the
servants of Collinwood.
Sarah saw a shadow fall across her bedroom door, walking to where it
was Sarah sees Angelique standing outside her door. She looks up to
her. With a gentle hand Angelique reaches out, she runs her cool
fingers across Sarah's small throat... "Hello Sarah, I hope you are
feeling better today." Sarah feels a tingle, she runs as quick as she
can to the Master bedroom... entering she sees her Mother Naomi sitting
in a pretty chair sewing. Sarah goes to her. "Mother!" Naomi drops
her work. "Sarah! you spoke! oh my dear, how did this happen, how did
your voice return.... Oh never mind I'm only glad you are well."Sarah
embraced her Mother with great joy. She could not remember what
Angelique had done
Not far from Sarah's room, Angelique stands, she places her hand upon
the closed door. How her heart leapt at the mere thought of the man
within these quarters. Her memory returns to the time in Martinique
when she first met Barnabas Collins, the American from Main. How he had
sought her attention with sweet words of praise and affection, sending
her flowers and perfume. His beautiful notes begging for a moment of
her time... how smitten he was with her then, and in time she with
him... Angelique succumbed to her Barnabas, lovingly giving to him her
heart and trust, as well as her chastity. Barnabas belonged to her....
Until he met Miss Josette duPre's the daughter of a wealthy sugar
cane plantation owner.
Angelique quietly opens the door and steps inside, closing the door
behind her. Barnabas sits in his favorite chair gazing into the fire
before him. He looks to her as she waits by the closed door. Slowly
advancing Angelique can see pain in his eye. "You have a headache."
Barnabas does not wish to complain. " I will be all right, please I wish
to be left alone." Standing behind him she brings her hands up,
massaging Barnabas' temples. "Remember how I would take away this pain
from you in Martinique.. Please let me help you now, the pain must be
terrible." Barnabas allows her to help him relax.
Barnabas brought back to mind his adventures in Martinique, the
drinking with his friends and shipmates, carousing with the pretty girls
that dotted the streets of Paris, and Martinique... then he remembered
meeting a young beautiful girl... the one woman child he knew would have
his heart forever more.... Suddenly Barnabas felt Angelique's hands
on his face.
Rising up Barnabas turns, he goes to Angelique, looking deeply into
her soft blue eyes. All thought's of Josette are pushed aside, he takes
her in his arms, they kiss passionately, wantonly, her arms embrace his
strong shoulders, with open mouths they share each other's spirits.
Holding Angelique tightly Barnabas proclaims. "I never want to see
Josette again... I hate her! You have always been there for me, wanting
me...now you shall have me." Angelique is filled with joy. "Will you
come to me tonight Barnabas." His eyes sparkle with a new light. "Yes,
you will see me tonight... I will come to your room." With one long
lasting kiss Angelique leaves Barnabas.
Sitting back in his chair Barnabas notices his headache is gone, not
wanting to Barnabas falls to sleep and dreams of Josette.
