The Final Days and Night's of Sarah Collins Chapter 18
=A0=A0=A0=A0Sarah's request to visit Miss Winters while she was in goal
were denied, being told that Goal was no place for a child, she only
wanted to cheer her up. Although Sarah knew of Barnabas, Josette, and
even her Mother Naomi visiting Miss Winters . "I don't understand why I
can't see Miss Winters, she is my best friend." Sarah was mostly
forgotten by everyone in Collinwood, except for Daniel. =A0
From time to time Daniel would keep Sarah company, they would explore
though the secret passageways, and tell each other secrets. Daniel told
Sarah that Millicent was going to sign all her money over to him, after
she married Lt. Forbes, because she wanted to prove that Nathan was in
love with her and not her money as Joshua, Naomi and the others have
said. Daniel also told Sarah that Miss Winters was going to be put on
trial for Witchcraft.
Out of curiosity Sarah went to Miss Winters room to search for the
book that she saw was hidden, but Sarah had forgotten where and could
not find it... had she found the book she would have foreseen her own
death.
One evening Sarah saw Barnabas enter Collinwood, knowing that their
Father forbad him from coming. Barnabas had grown suspicious of his
bride Angelique, and so went to speak to Ben, Joshua had him placed in a
cell in the basement after he had said that the witch had forced him to
go into Abigail's room, he was found there by Abigail.
Ben was very worried that he was going to be sent back to prison,
Sarah followed her brother and heard their discussion. "Ben, you must
tell me what you know!" Ben tries to make Barnabas understand that if
he tries to speak her name he will be made mute." Barnabas has Ben
write the witches initial... Ben writes the letter "A" that is when
Barnabas learns that his own wife is a witch. Barnabas knows what he
must do. Sarah did not see what Ben had written so does not know who
the witch is, she hurries back to her room when Ben strikes Barnabas and
leaves him on the ground.
Unknown to Sarah Barnabas goes to the Old House, he tries to kill
Angelique while she is asleep in bed, but she is not there, Angelique is
hidden in the shadows, she comes out to try to explain to Barnabas but
is met with anger and hatred... "It is because of you that Victoria was
accused of being the witch." Angelique tries to seem innocent. "I had
to Barnabas or they would have found me instead." Barnabas tries to
choke her but his hands will not go around her throat. Angelique stops
him from reaching her. Barnabas swears that he will find a way to
prove that Vickie is innocent and that he has found who the real witch
is. As he leaves the room Angelique opens the door to see the ghost of
Jeremiah, she faints and is taken away to the Cemetery, where she is
placed in an empty grave. Ben saves Angelique from being buried alive.
When she arrives back to the Old House Barnabas is waiting for her.
She tells Barnabas that he will not tell anyone what she is and that if
he does she will make Sarah feel the pain of his betrayal. Angelique
brings out Sarah's doll, Barnabas is stricken with fear. She then
sticks a pin in the doll's shoulder... At Collinwood, Sarah screams and
cries out in pain, Naomi carries her young daughter up to her room....
trying to comfort her.
In the Old House Barnabas pleads with Angelique to remove the pin from
the doll, but Angelique only laughs. "You will be my loving husband
Barnabas, or Sarah will die!." Barnabas can no longer take seeing the
doll impaled with the pin, so he takes the gun that had killed Jeremiah
and fires one shot towards Angelique, she falls to the floor, bleeding.
Thinking that she is about to die Angelique places a curse on
Barnabas.
"Barnabas! you want your beloved Josette! well you shall have her but
not in the way you wish! you will suffer my curse for eternity! You
will not be able to love anyone and anyone who loves you will die!"
After passing out Barnabas takes the doll and pulls the pin out, at that
same moment Sarah's stops crying. "Mother the pain is gone, I feel much
better now." Naomi hugs Sarah and stays with her until she falls to
sleep.
Barnabas, thinking that Angelique is dead suddenly hears the crashing
of glass, a large bat had flown in though the window and was flying
towards Barnabas...."No! get away from me! NO... no... no! " But
Barnabas is bitten in his throat. Ben finds him and takes him up to the
master bedroom, and puts him in bed. Angelique comes into the room
holding a cloth to her wound, she did not die and now regrets placing
the curse on Barnabas, but she does not know how to remove it... she
tells Ben to find her herbs and other things, she was going to try one
last hope of hopes to cure Barnabas by morning.
Naomi watches Sarah sleeping soundly. "I'm so glad that Sarah is out
of pain, I wonder how it could have happened... I shall not tell anyone
that this has happened, she is well now." Naomi goes to her room, she
misses Barnabas so much and wishes that Joshua had not banished him from
Collinwood.
