The Final Days and Night's of Sarah Collins Chapter 19
Ben watches over Barnabas as Angelique enters with a large glass
filled with what she hoped will cure Barnabas. "He must drink this and
if it works he will be well in the morning." Angelique goes towards
Barnabas... Ben comes between them. "I'm not sure your not going to try
and kill Mr.Barnabas instead." Angelique pushes Ben to one side. "Of
course I'm trying to cure him Ben, I love him." Ben allows Angelique
to give Barnabas the potion, she puts the glass to Barnabas' lips and
asks him to drink, Barnabas is very weak but drinks the potion to the
last drop.
Ben looks at his master. "I should go and tell the family about
this." Angelique is worried. "No Ben, they can't know, and if the
potion works there will be no need to tell anyone anything."
Sarah wakes, she feels that something is wrong but does not know what
exactly.. after breakfast Sarah asks if she would be allowed to go and
see her brother... Naomi is about to give her permission when Joshua
enters and tells her that she must remain at home. Sarah is very sad...
she goes to Daniel's room to spend the day with him and Millicent.
Standing at the foot of his bed Angelique tells Barnabas to cover his
eyes. "Open them when I say to." Barnabas complies. Moving to the
drapes Angelique pulls the open, the morning light enters the room,
looking at Barnabas she tells him "Now Barnabas open your eyes."
Barnabas is reluctant at first but slowly opens his eyes... With a
great shout Barnabas screams in pain. "AAAHHH! the light! it burns my
eyes!" Quickly closing the drapes Angelique knows that the potion did
not work and that when Barnabas dies she knew what would happen.
Angelique is filled with fear at what she had done.
The family is told about Barnabas' illness, Joshua and Naomi come to
see him, they fear for their son, all animosity is gone, Joshua tells
his son that he only wants him to be well again, but Barnabas knows that
he is dying. Sarah is not allowed to know of her brother's illness, she
is told that Barnabas is gone away on a business trip to England.
Josette is aghast to find Barnabas so near death... believing that
Vickie is the witch, she goes to plead with her to save Barnabas, Vickie
tells Josette that Barnabas does not die that he goes away to England,
that she knew this from the history book of the Collins family she
brought with her from the future. Josette wants to believe her. She
goes to find the book that Vickie spoke of.
After finding the book Josette and her Aunt Natalie read that indeed
Barnabas goes to England and lives a long life. Josette also reads of
her impending death. "No! that can't be, I would never take my own life!
that book is wrong!"
Later that evening Josette visit's Barnabas, he is glad to see her but
is delusional and warns her about the bat. Barnabas asks his father to
keep Angelique away from him. "Father please do not allow her near me."
Joshua leaves the room to make sure that Angelique does not enter.
Slowly Barnabas turns to Josette, he knows that he will soon die. "I
love you Josette, even in death I will always love you..." his breathing
become shallow. "I will come back to you my Josette.. I will come back,
I promise you... my .... love... I.. . will." Josette watches as
Barnabas slowly turns his head, his face falls to the pillows.
"Barnabas! No! Barnabas." Joshua enters the room after hearing
Josette. "He is dead Mr. Collins! Barnabas is dead!"
