I've thought, since the beginning, that this was to be the case. From the
git-go, it just didn't make sense that the PTB would let go of one of
their
top veteran stars, and piss off one of their most loyal fan bases in the
process. His acting aside, Drake garnered those fans for a reason; he
actually appreciates them, enjoys meeting them, and is a outstanding
spokesperson for NBC and the show. To fire him would have been a MAJOR
mistake.
Personally, I like the character of John Black, and throughout all the
various spins they have threw at him in 20 plus years, Drake always did
his
best to knock it out of the park. So, like him or not, I think he's as
much
a mainstay to Salem as Marlena, Sammy, Bo and Hope, and it didn't feel
right
without him on the canvas. Who knows, maybe that's what the writers wanted
to remind us of.
I don't, however, like the tired idea of him having amnesia, but I'm still
going to tune in because I love the show.
Thanks for the heads up, Dana :)
Happy New Year.
