Question About Pratt and Gallant

My mind is refusing to work for me tonight, and after a long bout of 
reading episode summaries, the answer to my question(s) is eluding me.

When Pratt started in the ER during season 8, what level was he?  I 
can't remember if he was a 4th year resident or already an intern.  And 
the same question for Gallant -- was he a 3rd year student in season 8 
or a 4th year?
