Old chief, new chief.

by npardue@[EMAIL PROTECTED] Nov 30, 2007 at 07:34 AM

Last night's episode had its moments. Mostly the ones where Luka was
on-screen. He looked good, of course, and the final scene with Abby,
as he is realizing that something is terribly wrong ... even if he
doesn't quite know (or at least is not quite ready to admit) WHAT
yet, was definitely one of the better scenes I've seen in the while,
and certainly the best scene in the whole Deterioration of Abby story
arc.

Abby did have a point, that bringing his brother home with him was
probably not a great idea. Both from the POV of this couple, (who
need some time together to reconnect after Luka's long absence) AND
from the POV of Luka's dad's situation. Dad is seriously, terminally
ill, and BOTH his kids run off to America, leaving him with a nurse
and a cousin? I can see that Luka needed to go home, but was there
really a pressing need for Niko to come visiting just this particular
moment?

I'd missed the episode where Skye was introduced, so it was a bit of
shock to see her suddenly appointed as acting chief. She seemed like
an ok character ... until the last scene. Bleah. Just how many ***
scenes does one series need? (Esp. since *** scenes seem to be taking
the place of medical scenes. It struck me the other day that the
number of 'patient' storylines has declined VERY sharply of late. In
the early years there would usually be several major patient
storylines (usually one per main-cast character), and a few minor
ones.) Really, if they'd wanted to make the point that Skye is a ****,
they COULD have done so without the final 10 minutes of pawing. It
would have been MORE effective if they had cut as she started
stripping down. We know what's going to happen. We don't HAVE to see
it.

It was a dissappointment to see Moretti gone so soon. I remember
enjoying him very much at the end of last season, and then being
puzzled that the writers seemed to have no idea what to do with him.
So he appeared in a handful of episodes, usually doing little more
than a brief walk through -- and then was gone again.

Does Pratt's bit of dialogue mean that Mekhi is also thinking of
jumping ****p? Could he also be getting sick of having no
storylines?

Morris was just comic relief again last night (and not very funny at
that), and Sam had little to do either. But Chuny got some screen
time. Rah rah. And so did Anspaugh. Double Rah rah.

Won't the karate kid's dad find out about the drugs when he gets the
bill, and finds that he's been charges for Fent and ... I forget what
else he said?

How does Tony afford the rent on that VERY nice, very large apartment
on a resident's salary?

All in all, of the episodes I've seen this season, this was probably
the best. That isn't saying much, however.

Naomi
