I'd go for b) if possible - a) if not.
Let's face it, the shock revelation of Empire will be meaningless if
she waycjhes 1-3 first, as will the Luke/Leia revelation.
One of the main thing I hate about 1-3, apart from their overall
****ness, is the fact that they completely undo the plot twists from
the later films, so it's actually a bad idea to watch 1-6 in order.
I'd got for the release date order.
