I think the main difference with Iron Man (meaning the fact that it
was good) is the fact that Marvel financed it directly - meaning (I'd
imagine) less studio people giving their input regarding plot points,
actors, etc.

If this is the way Marvel intend to go for the next wave of
adaptations, it bodes well.
