I think I am ahead of this guy, as well.
One thing I would dispute is that a treb is gravity powered. It is
really human powered where a team of serfs is hitched to a giant rope
and lashed in the direction the captain wants the the rope pulled.
The energy from the turnips, moldy bread, and weak ale the serfs call
"nouvelle cusine" is then stored in the giant suspended weight by
taking advantage of the phenomenon of gravity.
