Nah, the guy himself trades on the old 1960s white Bermondsey Boys - he
isn't that unique. I think that sort of white working class,
wheeler-dealer
culture is less visible now and so less striking but it still exists (just
visit East Street Market). Sullivan says that the character is based on
many
people he knew and I don't doubt that he's telling the truth.
As for the family composition - the original cast consisted of brother and
granddad which isn't that unusual.
