I agree. Only one thing bothered me about our little TV bandit - no
raccoon would ever run into the open flames of a fireplace. Having
said that, years ago a mother raccoon set up housekeeping in the
unused flue of our split chimney. It leads to a fireplace in the
livingroom which we use, and another to an unused basement fireplace.
She proceeded to have her babies in her cosy nest. As they got bigger
our children would open the cleanout chamber door in the basement
fireplace, tiny furry hands would reach out and the kids would feed
them peanut butter sandwiches! Fortunately, after they grew up and
left the nest, so did mother raccoon, and we put a screen over the
chimney top.
