Hmmm. Until you folks replied to me here, I hadn't realized that music
rights were the potential reason for the editing.
After reading more of this thread, I'm wondering, do you guys think that
whatever might be edited out of the DVD is stuff that we still see in the
syndicated episodes? (I still haven't opened my Season Ten set yet).
I got to thinking, the only episode I can recall that had a musical
performer was the one with Elvis Costello playing at Cafe Nervosa. Sure
enough, that episode is in Season Ten (I see the title "Farewell Nervosa"
on
the box, and that has to be it.)
Since Costello's performance is still in the syndicated episodes on TV,
could there be differences in rights, which allow them to keep the
performances in the syndicated episodes for perpetual airing, but prevent
them from being included on DVDs for sale?
