Did anyone else see the new ep last night?
Not bad --- I actually laughed a few times --- but increasingly the
show seems a tired retread of FRASIER. The overweight station manager
is a younger version of Kenny, and Patricia Heaton's character
increasingly seems a combo of Roz and Lilith, at least in relation to
Chuck, KG's character.
And Ty Burrell's mixup with the 'animals' might have been a Niles B-
story.
Like "Out Of Practice" (which I preferred), the show is suffering due
to inevitable comparisons with its predecessors.
Otherwise, I'd say if there's a problems it's that the characters are
not sufficiently unusual or interesting (at least, compared with those
from "FRASIER" or "SEINFELD") to really grab viewers, even a niche
audience.
It's too bad because the actors are excellent and I know would deliver
if they had more challenging material.
I gather there will be new eps (post-strike) starting in April.
