Who was consistently compassionate on The West Wing? President Bartlett
(leader, father
figure) and Donna Moss immediately come to mind.
Who was consistently compassionate on S****ts Night? Isaac Jaffe (leader,
father figure)
and Jeremy Goodwin come to mind.
Who is consistently compassionate on Studio 60? Nobody immediately comes
to mind. You
rarely see "managers" surrounding their employees offering them a heavy
dose of
inspiration the way Bartlett and Isaac did all the time.
In TWW and SN, both teams were focused on their jobs, and the shows often
pivoted around
saving the world (TWW) or inspiring people with feats of athletic
accomplishment (SN).
Both TWW and SN were INSPIRING! And, despite personal issues, all the
major cast all got
along (the Roddenberry concept).
On S60, the "job" seems to have become minor to the plot, and they have
not made it at
all inspiring except for the show with the New Orleans musicians, which I
felt was
wonderful. And despite the love interests the cast all seems self-centered
when compared
to TWW and SN.
I am going to make a guess here - Studio 60 is soooooo far off the way
Sorkin templates
his shows, especially when it comes to wordplay, they I'd guess that Aaron
Sorkin isn't
really writing the show.
