No opinions posted yet? Or are they further back when everyone
downloaded it? I didn't bother this time. I love the dvd extras and
especially the commentaries so I just waited this time.
My 2 cents: I think they are having more fun creating the movies than
we are watching them. I do like them, but I find them a bit different
than the old tv eps. They throw in all the one-off characters anywhere
they can just for the sake of having them in there and it just feels
wrong.
The humour just isn't as good any more either. It feels forced, almost
like they are just copying themselves. It's almost becoming a parody
of themselves at times.
My explanation is this: When you have to pack an entire story into 22
minutes, you have to cut everything that isn't really needed. The
positive offshoot of this is that only the REALLY good stuff stays in.
But when you're trying to fill up 90 minutes, sometimes you might pad
it or leave material in that might not normally make the grade.
I also think that from the audience perspective, 90 minutes can be a
long time unless the story is really intense and holds your interest.
I've felt the same way about other shows like South Park and Family
Guy (and Trailer Park Boys here in Canada). In a shorter episode they
can be great all the way through, but in a longer form they tend to
get somewhat tiring (and less funny) about half or three quarters of
the way through.
Anyway, overall I did like it but I just don't feel it's up to the
quality of the original episodes. But I do hope they keep making
them!

ps: I also thought the title of this one was pretty obsure! Good thing
David remembered (at the last minute) to explain it in the commentary
or I never would have got it!
