Yes, indeed....in the state of Florida that's a prerequisite at ALL
elementary schools for ALL teachers....changes brought forth during
the Bush administration, of course. Dana has to weigh in monthly and
if the kids come to school with their OWN crack instead of her
providing it for them, they immediately go to in house suspension on
their first offense or expulsion on their second and Dana loses her
job.
The school district cannot afford security guards, a drug enforcement
canine unit, or metal detectors, either. Every day she takes a HUGE
risk that a student in her class might come to school with their own
crack instead of the crack she provides, in which case she would be
fired.
The bake sales at her school are quite a fun family and even a
neighborhood event....it's almost like a Farmer's Market. Lots of
grade A reefer in those brownies, which Dana's neighbor, Josefina,
bakes the night before....a special Cuban recipe that was brought to
Florida in the mid 60's... As for whatever you said she sucks on,
Golly.... I'm not sure in the least about that and isn't that kind of
inappropriate?
In her particular county down there, the guidelines for teachers are
JUST SO STRINGENT in regards to this whole morbid obesity for all
teachers food regulation thing, that she's always scarfin' down some
Pringles, so I've honestly NEVER seen her with anything else in her
mouth. Some days she has to text message her whole lesson plan to the
kids because she's very responsible about keeping up with those weight
regulations.
She really cares deeply. She follows ALL of the rules just like you
stated. Thank you so much for reminding of how tough things are down
there in Florida. Now we don't have to watch 20/20 or read Newsweek
anymore to be reminded. You are a fountain and a wealth of im****tant
information indeed. Maybe when we get a new president this will all be
over.
