Michael's Moral Compass (Or Lack Thereof)

by Ruby Vee <rubyvee3@[EMAIL PROTECTED] > Apr 6, 2008 at 04:08 PM

Michael is on the sofa, playing with a violent video game, and when
Carly interrupts him, telling him "You of all people should know the
consequences of playing with guns," his response is "You KNOW it was an
accident!" His biggest concern seemed to be that his mother was still
mad at him after he explained that he didn't shoot Kate intentionally.
That would have been an excellent time to explain to him that it was an
accident he shouldn't have had, since he shouldn't have had a gun in
the first place. And that he DID intentionally leave her lying
bleeding in the dirt instead of calling for help.

Yet even Kate seems as if she's going to let it pass.

Michael could learn a bit about owning up to your accidents and taking
responsibility for your mistakes from his paternal grandmother. (No,
not Adella, who seems to have entirely missed the boat when it comes to
protecting your children from absent or abusive fathers and step
fathers.) Monica took responsibility for her actions, apologized to
the person she hurt and took her consequences like a woman.

As far as Michael apologizing to Kate -- why hasn't it happened
already? Anyone of the three parents in his life should have hauled
him to her home and stood there while he apologized.

Ruby
