Black List 2007 Best Liked Screenplays
Today was the release of the annual Black List which is distributed in
the movie business. It's compiled from the suggestions of over 150
film executives and high-level assistants, each of whom contributed
the names of up to 10 of their favorite scripts that were written in,
or are somehow uniquely associated with, 2007 and will not be released
in theaters during this calendar year. Like last year, scripts had to
receive at least two mentions to be included on the roster. Remember,
The Black List emphasizes that it's not a “best of” list but, at best,
a “most liked” list. This is also a "big dick" measuring contest for
the Hollywood agencies and their motion picture lit departments: the
most screenplays on the list were repped by Creative Artists Agency,
followed closely by William Morris Agency, United Talent Agency,
Endeavor, Paradigm, International Creative Management, and Gersh. I've
decided to cause trouble and post just the index:
44 MENTIONS
RECOUNT by Danny Strong
--------------------------
Rob here: Aaaaaaand the several dozen rest don't matter. Danny
Strong's script (which is IIRC on Bush V. Gore and I think is already
optioned and stuff) is #1.
Hmm. Isn't it nice to see two of the victims of Roseanne Barr (ie:
Joss Whedon and Amy Sherman-Palladino) pass on what they've learned
about writing to the guy who played Jonathan and Doyle? ;)

LORELAI: I am so done with plans. I am never, ever making one again.
It never works. I spend the day obsessing over why it didn't work
and what I could've done differently. I'm analyzing all my shortcomings
when all I really need to be doing is vowing to never, ever make a plan
ever again, which I'm doing now, having once again been the innocent
victim of my own stupid plans. God, I need some coffee.
