I found this to be a bit of an overly hysterical moment for Lorelai,
as well. She just came off as WAY too paranoid WRT Rory applying to
Yale... like her mother and father were out to specifically "get" her
(Lorelai) and her, only.

>=A0Also odd that Rory wouldn't let Lorelai know - since

When this eppy originally aired, I asked myself, "how could Lorelai
NOT know where Rory was applying to??", just because of the
application fees, alone. SOMEONE had to pay for her applications...
and if Richard and Emily were paying her app. fees, and thus, knew
about Yale, then, in THAT sense, I can definitely understand Lorelai's
paranoia.

Having said that, I don't believe that Richard and Emily contributed
towards Rory's application fees for her college apps., thus leaving
the question "Where did Rory get the money to pay for her apps.??"
begging to be answered, IMVHO. It just didn't make sense, and to me,
was a loose thread left hanging by TPTB.

Yes, and no... Lorelai had ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA of the college
application process, because she never, ever went through it. She was
out of school before her friends applied to college, so her friends
and her never discussed the whole "having back-up colleges" concept of
applying to college.

I understand what you mean, though. If you DO apply to college, it IS
pretty widely known that a person applies to more than one school,
just in case.
