Yes, she's been doing commercials. Besides Special K (and what's
"Open?"), she's done that Pinkberry/Swirly Goodness Amex PlumCard
commercial. Moreover, she's the voice of Kelloggs's entire Special K
line, so you're going to be hearing her voice on numerous commercials
for that line (including their power-bar-ishy stuff) for a while.
Kelloggs was especially bitter about the cancellation of the show,
too.
Also, I take the combination both of her doing commercial work (not so
much the Kelloggs stuff, which I do believe she was going to do
anyway) *and* doing four movies in a row since the show ended that she
wasn't planning on the show ending and as a direct result had to
scramble around for work in preparation for the strike. She usually
takes the summers off from doing any major roles and most of the
movies that she did she signed on for after the show ended. (Note:
The Amateurs was filmed two years ago and Birds of America she clearly
had to have signed on for before the show ended because she started it
just after the season wrapped. It's everything that she's done since,
including that Greg Kinnear movie (Flashes of Genius) and another one
starring Jeff Daniels (don't remember the title) plus, I think, one
more. Maybe-ish. Haven't imdb'd her in a while.

LORELAI: I am so done with plans. I am never, ever making one again.
It never works. I spend the day obsessing over why it didn't work
and what I could've done differently. I'm analyzing all my shortcomings
when all I really need to be doing is vowing to never, ever make a plan
ever again, which I'm doing now, having once again been the innocent
victim of my own stupid plans. God, I need some coffee.
