Honestly -- first rule of character analysis and dramaturgy is that if
it's dialogue, you accept it as truth (not fact) until some other
piece of information later on in the series either sup****ts it (in
which case, it becomes more fact-y) or contradicts it. If the
contradiction is referred to more, that's the one that's the fact, the
reality of the series and any contradictory information that's given
in dialogue isn't a continuity error in the slightest -- it's the
character evading/giving incorrect information/having trouble with the
truthiness thing.

Continuity errors are more like -- when and why did Jackson stop being
Selectman and Taylor take the reigns back even though a full episode
was devoted to Jackson (Obama) rebelling against Taylor (Hillary). Or
the one episode where Lorelai is wearing her horn-rimmed gl*****
(because Lauren was re****tedly having problems with her contact lenses
that day, IIRC, BID) and the collar of the ****rt that she's wearing is
either pinned under or sticking out of her pullover sweater depending
on the given shot (IIRC, it was either s3 or s4).

Anyway, when the supposed continuity error exists ONLY within
competing dialogue snippets, the explanation that is correct is the
one that treats both of them as not erroneous.

See also (Oh yes, THAT again! ;) ): my continuing assertion that
based on the Horoscope reference in s5's WitS *and* the reference to
Lorelai having moved into the Crap Shack when Rory was about 10,
Lorelai was pining for Luke for 2 years before she made the first move
on Luke.

LORELAI: I am so done with plans. I am never, ever making one again.
It never works. I spend the day obsessing over why it didn't work
and what I could've done differently. I'm analyzing all my shortcomings
when all I really need to be doing is vowing to never, ever make a plan
ever again, which I'm doing now, having once again been the innocent
victim of my own stupid plans. God, I need some coffee.
