Yeah, I blewe that one. C-Law is on Mondays and is moving to Fridays
next week.

Thanks for the concern, but we're fine up here! All the flooding is
in the southern parts of the state, from Springfield in the southwest
to Cape Girardeau in the southeast. I'm in central MO, a little less
than a half-hour from Jefferson City, the state capital. Jeff City
does flood occasionally since it's on the banks of the Missouri River
and was hit bad back in the flood of 1993, but where I am, we're about
500 ft above sea level *and* since we're built into the side of a
hill, we're also somewhat protected from the tornados that come
through the area.
I guess we live in sort of the sweet spot in the area -- too high up
for flooding, too low to get *huge* snowfalls like you can just 40-50
miles north of here and in too hilly an area for most tornados. The
twisters generally follow I-70 west-to-east if they strike north of us
because I-70 is on mostly flatland and when they come through from
the south, they generally rise up north to the east of town.
We've even had only one tornado siren since I moved here three and a
half years ago, and that was in February. Apparently, a tornado *did*
move southeast through my area outside of town, and passing just east
of the town limits. Although I packed up my laptop with backup discs
and brought that into our safety room (aka the bathroom) with me, the
tornado still didn't do anything araound here, which I credit to the
hilly terrain and the abundance of trees.
My biggest concern is that the icy winter we had downed or severly
damaged a lot of trees between here and Columbia (an hour away, home
of the Mizzou Tigers, winners of the Cotton Bowl) and those trees that
survived haven't started showing signs of blooming yet. The whole
region needs those trees as a tornado break.
Best,
Rob

LORELAI: I am so done with plans. I am never, ever making one again.
It never works. I spend the day obsessing over why it didn't work
and what I could've done differently. I'm analyzing all my shortcomings
when all I really need to be doing is vowing to never, ever make a plan
ever again, which I'm doing now, having once again been the innocent
victim of my own stupid plans. God, I need some coffee.
