This is definitely the question. Amy still wants to do one, so if we
keep asking Warner for one, they'll eventually find a way, IMO. The
key thing now is not ratings but where fan demand intersects with
ASP's continuing passion for the project. The DVDs still sell
amazingly well, particularly for a show whose early seasons have been
out on DVD for years. The Complete Series set also does extremely
well and was even sold out at Warner's official www.gilmoreshop.com
for a time before a new batch came in. (s5 is the set that's current
sold out). The amazing sales of the Firely DVD set certainly inspired
the Serenity movie, so I don't see why Warner couldn't or shouldn't
commission a Gg movie or three regardless of where they think it might
end up. (FTR, big screen movie is IMO out of the question due to it
being a show that should be experienced in the intimate setting of
TV.)
I think that we've got a sufficient fanbase to supply the energy that
would get Warner to greenlight a Gg movie (for direct-to-DVD or
direct-to-ABC Family or some sort of combo deal with The CW-DVD-ABC
Family or even a Friday Night Lights-ish VOD deal. However, it seems
that the fandom for female-skewing shows lacks the 40-years of
organizational infrastructure that sci-fi fandom has built since Star
Trek: Original Recipe was uncancelled for a year through the efforts
of prototrekkie Bjo Trimble. I certainly lack those organizational
skills, I'm just a born kibbitzer.
But I have a website that needs, like, a better driver than I am.
www.savethelorelais.org (or .com). Oh, and a 12K+ petition at

LORELAI: I am so done with plans. I am never, ever making one again.
It never works. I spend the day obsessing over why it didn't work
and what I could've done differently. I'm analyzing all my shortcomings
when all I really need to be doing is vowing to never, ever make a plan
ever again, which I'm doing now, having once again been the innocent
victim of my own stupid plans. God, I need some coffee.
