IN TREATMENT Question(s) : Contains Spoilers

Because we entered late in the game, once hooked on In Treatment we
decided to just follow the Laura and Alex episodes, but now that we
are getting toward the end we are starting to realize that maybe we
are missing a lot of information that is probably airing in other
character's episodes.
My question for anyone who is watching all the episodes:  Is it
necessary to truly follow all the stories, Paul included?  In whose
episode did Paul find out Alex was killed?  If you just watch the Alex
episodes it goes from his last appointment till his funeral.  How did
he die exactly? Was it explained?
