So, it's time for the "alliances" ep of Flash Gordon.
I liked it. My wife liked it, too, and she had no preconceived
notions about Gillian. Spoiler space:

Interesting:
* We see some depth for Flash's dad. Flash, in particular, now has to
accept that his dad had a girl on Mongo.
* Dale and Joe's relation****p is actually impacted by her gallivanting
around with her ex.
* We get some im****tant info about Baylin's past.
* Flash's dad's behavior is a mystery.
Annoyances:
* Isn't it convenient that Zarkov decides to come along for the first
time in an ep when it would be handy to have a tech along?
* The implication is that the water purification is needed not only
for drinking water, but also for crop irrigation. That tiny little
machine looks like it could barely service an office.
* How close are the Varden to Ming's city? Seems like Barin can come
and go really quickly, and the only means we see of locomotion is
walking.
* When the Night Hunter attacks, we're told that any noise will bring
down more Night Hunters. Then Zarkov screams, and the Night Hunter
shouts, too. But no more Night Hunters arrive.
* What did the Varden do for water purification before Flash's dad
showed up? Or -- did the problem only begin around the time he
showed up? Is there a relation****p there between the rifts and the
water problem? They don't say.
