The pin oak that got hit by mighty lightning a few weeks ago. The tree
crew came to take off the dead stuff yesterday. It looks pretty good
without all the dead stuff hanging off it. Today, the arborist came to
shoot it full of drugs ... he actually used a needle, going into the
bark ... or what's left of the bark. Then he dug holes around the tree
and filled the holes full of perlite. I'm supposed to keep the tree
watered if we have a dry winter and/or spring. And we're all keeping a
good thought that the tree will survive. That's what we're going.
Last night had an excellent episode of Bones and a disturbing episode
of House and a great episode of Boston Legal, though not as good as
the premiere for the season. Reaper was okay ... if you're interested
in seeing how the Vessel o' the Week captures the escapees from hell,
it's not bad at all. And the fat guy ... all these shows have a fat
guy who's much more entertaining than the main guy ... is plenty
entertaining. Almost unique. Very watchable.
I think I'll rake up some more ground around the tree ... get some
perlite and mix it in with the dirt ... maybe throw in some
fertilizer. I just don't think we're doing enough for this tree. A few
weeks ago, it was a mighty oak. Now ... it is a victim of the gods of
Chaos and I'm not sure it's strong enough to withstand *those*
particular slings and arrows.
I'm not sure anyone is.
