It's been pointed out here before that the healing characters from
Heroes bear some faint resemblance to a certain other mythos. But at
this point, it's getting ridiculous. We have a 400-year-old character
from the Brittish Isles, Adam Morgan/Takezo Kensei. He spends a while
in Japan, carries a katana, and can heal from any injury or even
death. The only thing that can kill him is a head injury. He even
has a k'immie name -- Kensei. The other immortal mutant, Claire, is
adopted. There is a mutant, Sylar, who goes around cutting off other
mutants' heads to collect their powers.
Does anyone know for sure if this is intended as a homage, or if it's
just an extreme coincidence?
Some differences:
* While Claire is adopted, she does know who her birth parents are.
* Heroes does not have true Quickenings (although Sylar takes heads +
powers, while Peter can duplicate powers without killing.)
* Heroes does not have the Game -- although there have been some
standoffs between Sylar and Peter.
* Heroes does not have the Buzz.
* No reason (yet) to believe that immortal mutants on Heroes are
sterile.
* Lots of other mutants running around with other powers on Heroes.
On Highlander, we just have immortals.
* Blood from Heroes healers/immortals can cure others.
* Heroes healers/immortals can regrow limbs (i.e. Claire's toe.) HL's
immortal Xavier didn't regrow his severed hand.
